Doc Martin (TV Series) (2004) follows the story of Dr. Martin Ellingham, portrayed by Clunes, who is a highly skilled and accomplished vascular surgeon at Imperial College London. After a profound realization about the humanity of his patients, he develops a severe fear of blood, known as haemophobia. This fear renders him unable to perform surgeries, leading him to abandon his career in vascular surgery. Seeking a fresh start, he takes up a position in a small coastal village. Upon his arrival in Portwenn, Dr. Ellingham, affectionately dubbed "Doc Martin" by the locals, discovers that the medical practice is in a state of disarray, with outdated equipment and chaotic patient records.
