As of the end of Summer, a hundred million monarch butterflies migrate from Canada to the state of Michaocán, in Mexico, to hibernate there. While it weighs less than half a gram, a monarch can fly up to 100 kilometers a day. In total, it covers about 5,000 kilometers, the longest migration ever observed in insects.
