Kellen has not spoken since the death of his mother. His introverted character and his isolation lead his father to take the decision to travel one summer to the island of El Hierro; perhaps a few months away from the German city of Dresden will help him to overcome the situation. Alaric and Ebba, a married couple who live on the island, receive them in their home but quarrels soon appear, and not even the years have erased the betrayals of the past that ended up distancing them. When Kellen meets Manuel, an old man from the village with an intellectual disability and a mental age of 10 years, a complicity is born between them that manages to overcome communication and language barriers: a friendship beyond words.
