Brooklyn Babylon (2001) unfolds in the vibrant yet tense neighborhood of Crown Heights, Brooklyn, where West Indian Rastafarians and other Black residents coexist with the Jewish Lubavitch community. Ethnic tensions simmer beneath the surface, and a minor car accident serves as the catalyst for escalating conflict. Judah, a determined young Jewish man, and his vigilante group confront Scratch, a bold African-American hustler, following the incident. During the altercation, passengers in the cars, Sol, a talented hip-hop musician and artist who is friends with Scratch, and Sara, who is engaged to Judah but yearns for independence and education, make a meaningful connection. As the days pass, the animosity between Scratch and Judah intensifies, leading to violent confrontations. Meanwhile, Sara and Sol's growing bond mirrors the biblical tale of Sheba and Solomon, placing them in a precarious situation amidst the escalating tensions.
