Asked to contribute to the commemoration of the end of the Second World War and the German occupation, Johan van der Keuken, who was born in 1938, declines to use film archives and thus to make a film about the past. Interviewing a survivor of Auschwitz, he thinks back to the war with the help of images of the present, in a pitilessly lucid observation of today's reality.
