Frederick Mack, gemnligen called "Store Mack", own a great glue factory in a fishing village in northern Norway. He is the area's most powerful man. Among his subordinates are telegraphist Ove Rolandsen, a great womanizer, who shamelessly exploit the affection that the priest's housekeeper Marie van Loos devotes him. Rolandsen staying with fisherman Levion, in whose house he was at leisure experimented a glue that is better than store Macks. It is, however, not want the invention. When Mack's beautiful daughter Elise returning from studies in Christiania is Ove immediately ready to ingratiate himself with her. She is not entirely immune to his charms but also courted by the more ståndsmässige captain Henriksen. At a party at the home of Mack it into a violent quarrel between the despised Marie van Loos and the slightly inebriated Ove Rolandsen and Captain Henriksen is not slow to exploit the situation by tricking ove to standing up free to Elise.
