Frederick Mack, gemnligen called "Store Mack", own a great glue factory in a fishing village in northern Norway. He is the area's most powerful man. Among his subordinates are telegraphist Ove Rolandsen, a great womanizer, who shamelessly exploit the affection that the priest's housekeeper Marie van Loos devotes him. Rolandsen staying with fisherman Levion, in whose house he was at leisure experimented a glue that is better than store Macks. It is, however, not want the invention. When Mack's beautiful daughter Elise returning from studies in Christiania is Ove immediately ready to ingratiate himself with her.
