Chop Shop (2007) follows the journey of Alejandro, a resilient and driven Latino street orphan on the brink of adolescence. He resides and toils in an auto-body repair shop nestled within a vast junkyard on the outskirts of Queens, New York. In this tumultuous adult world, Alejandro strives to create a better future for himself and his 16-year-old sister, Isamar. He secures a job for her in a food van, where she cooks and sells meals to the auto-body workers. With a blend of youthful innocence and adult determination, Alejandro meticulously saves his earnings to purchase a mobile-food van, envisioning a future where the siblings own and operate their own small business. However, their aspirations and deep bond are put to the test by the harsh realities of life, work, and their evolving relationship, compelling the youngsters to confront challenging decisions typically faced by adults.
