Land of the Heroes (S)

Iraq, 1988. A land devastated by war. Dilleer and his sister Zienee want to watch cartoons on television, but that becomes more difficult than expected when bully Malo comes along. Filmmaker Sahim Omar Kalifa revisits his childhood memories of the First Gulf War, between Iran and Iraq; a conflict now largely overshadowed by contemporary wars in the region. The film is shot entirely on location in Iraq.
