Director Bruce Conner beautifully juxtaposes a wide array of imagery with rapid pace experimental editing. Some of the visuals include the vintage movie countdown clip, mushroom atomic bomb explosions, women dancing, soldiers marching, fireworks, cannons, rubble, etc. Musically scored with a song by Ray Charles, its jazzy and blues rhythm accompanies the images in perfect harmony. The contrast/comparison of the images of female nudity and war along with the music subtly shows how interconnected sex and violence really is. Cosmic Ray is nothing short of a stunning example of experimental cinema and a testament to shock the senses in a visually and auditory manner.
