In November 2002, the oil tanker Prestige caused the biggest ecological disaster to hit the Spanish coastline. The Prestige was a ship that sank off the coast of Galicia, causing a spill of crude oil. From there arose a movement that organised a wave of solidarity to clean up the affected coastline and demanded environmental, judicial and political responsibilities.
