Philippe is so immersed in his thesis topic -- the philosophy of scientific culture and how space exploration is motivated by narcissism -- that he absentmindedly builds multi-stage rockets from desktop items and arranges fruit and stones into planetary alignments on his kitchen table. The death of his mother prompts an uneasy truce with estranged, gay younger brother Andre.
