Bodyguard (1948) follows the story of Mike Carter, a tenacious homicide detective who finds himself dismissed from the police force due to insubordination and breaches of protocol. Compelled to find new employment, Carter accepts a position as a bodyguard for Mrs. Gene Dysen, the proprietor of a prominent meat-packing facility. As he delves into the threats against her life, Carter uncovers a web of intrigue surrounding the murder of a meat inspector at the plant. However, his investigation takes a perilous turn when he is falsely implicated in the murder of his former police supervisor.
